Easter Candy for adults: Make chocolate bark with almonds, bourbon

Make chocolate bark with almonds, bourbon

Enjoy some bark with a bite this Easter!
A favorite holiday treat and gift idea, bark comes in an infinite variety of flavors, colors and textures. Mystery Chef, as usual, is in the hunt to find some extra special recipes for us, and this Chocolate Bourbon Bark is no exception. It makes an exceptionally fine Easter basket surprise for an adult.
Our special ingredient in this quick and easy recipe is Jim Beam Bourbon. Mystery Chef has chosen Jim Beam as a perfect combination for this recipe, but you may choose your favorite bourbon. Also, since this bark is not cooked, the full spirit of the whiskey will remain intact, so advise your gift recipients accordingly.
Variations of chocolate bark are plentiful, but you will really enjoy this one by simply adding your favorite ingredients. Chocolate bark is easy to make without a recipe. Bark can also be made ahead of time and kept in the freezer, or made shortly before. Either way, served on a festive plate or dressed up as an imaginative gift in a decorative tin, box, plate or bag, this candy can’t be beat.

Chocolate Bourbon Bark
Ingredients
3½ ounces dark chocolate (such as 1 bar of Lindt’s 70% Cocoa Dark Chocolate)
2 tablespoons bourbon (Jim Beam Bourbon)
1/3 cup sliced almonds
Break up the chocolate into pieces and put into the microwave for 15 seconds, in a microwave safe bowl or plastic container. Check to see if melted, and then repeat the process as necessary.
Add bourbon, and gently mix together with a spoon.
Arrange half of the almonds on aluminum foil. Pour the chocolate over the nuts, and then stick in the remaining almonds vertically into the chocolate.
Place flat into the freezer to set for 30 minutes.
Break the candy into pieces and serve. Continue
